Summer Intensive 2010

Professional Opportunities // This is where it starts.
Under the personal instruction of Artistic Director, Stephen Mills, Associate Artistic Director, Michelle Martin, and an outstanding faculty, you will learn what it takes to excel in your career through this classical yet innovative program. Members of Ballet Austin II, Ballet Austin's paid apprentice program, as well as Ballet Austin Academy's trainees are selected from the Summer Intensive Program.

Summer Intensive Program Description
Ballet Austin's Senior Summer Intensive program offers two 3-week sessions or one 6-week session of study for serious students ages 11-22. Ballet Austin's Junior Summer Intensive program offers one 3-week session of study for serious students ages 9-13.
The Summer Intensive program is an experience that will give students a deeper understanding of ballet technique and how to use it more effectively. Our resident faculty, augmented by guest teachers from the ranks of Ballet Austin's professional company, offers positive encouragement with relentless attention to detail. In addition to ballet technique, pointe, variations, men’s class, partnering and repertoire, students take classes with well established modern, jazz and theatre dance teachers.

$25.00 audition fee due at check-in

DVD Auditions
If you are unable to audition for the Summer Intensive Program in person, you may audition by DVD. The DVD should consist of a sampling of barre work and center practice including adagio, pirouettes, petite and grand allegro and pointe work. Men should also include double tour en l'air and tours a la seconde. The length should be approximately 15 minutes. A full body photograph of you in dance attire, in any position, is also required along with the $30.00 application fee. All DVD auditions must be accompanied by the audition form below.

Scholarship and Financial Aid
A limited number of scholarships are granted each year to promising students. After you have auditioned and been accepted, you may contact the Managing Director of Schools for information.
