Senior Summer Intensive 2009

Ballet Austin's Senior Summer Intensive program offers two 3-week sessions or one 6-week session of study for serious students ages 11-22. The Senior Summer Intensive is a concentrated course that provides students with a deeper understanding of ballet technique. Our resident faculty, augmented by guest teachers from the ranks of Ballet Austin's professional company, offers positive encouragement with relentless attention to detail. In addition to ballet technique, pointe, variations, men’s class, partnering and repertoire, students take classes with well established modern, jazz and theatre dance teachers.

The Butler Dance Education Center

June 22-July 10, 2009 & July 13-31, 2009

Placement Classes
All students accepted into the Senior Intensive will attend a placement class at Ballet Austin’s Butler Dance Education Center, 501 West 3rd Street to determine level placement for the Intensive. This class is required of all students.

More detailed information will be provided to students in a confirmation packet after they have registered.

Curriculum
Ballet Technique / Pointe/Variations / Partnering / Repertoire / Jazz / Modern / Theatre Dance / African / Pilates Mat Classes / Seminars, including nutrition, dance history, performance psychology and anatomy.

Tuition
$1,185 for a three-week session
$2,275 for the six-week session

Room and Board
$1,200 for a three-week session
$2,400 for the six-week session

Performances
An informal performance highlighting the accomplishments of our Senior Intensive students will be offered at the end of each three-week session. Summer Intensive students will perform on stage at the AustinVentures StudioTheater located in Ballet Austin’s Butler Dance Education Center.

Scholarship and Financial Aid
A limited number of scholarships are granted each year to promising students. Scholarship recipients will be notified upon acceptance. A limited amount of financial aid is also available to students who apply. After a student has auditioned and been accepted, he/she may contact the Managing Director of Schools for financial aid information. Dormitory Housing
Dormitory housing is provided for Senior Summer Intensive students between the ages of 11-20 and is located on the lovely 160-acre hilltop campus of St. Edward’s University overlooking beautiful downtown Austin and the State Capital of Texas. The campus is just minutes from Ballet Austin’s Butler Dance Education Center. The Dormitory will be exclusive for Ballet Austin students during the six weeks of the Summer Intensive.

Out of town students ages 21 and older will be responsible for their own housing if they wish to attend the Senior Summer Intensive. A list of Suite Hotels that are located near Ballet Austin's Butler Dance Education Center at 501 West 3rd Street will be provided upon registration. You will be responsible for making your own housing arrangements.
