Creative Movement (ages 3-5)

The Creative Movement classes are for children ages 3-5.  Classes meet one time per week for 45 minutes. Creative Movement 1 is open to children who have turned 3 by September 1, 2009. Creative Movement 2 is open to children who have turned 4 by September 1, 2009. Creative Movement 3 is open to 5 year olds who prefer a creative dance class rather than the Pre-Ballet option for 5-year-olds.

The Creative Movement syllabus is designed by Joan Wolfe and utilizes original music composed specifically for each class by Music Director and composer, Billy Wolfe. 

Classes are narrative in nature as students are led through a series of movement stories and ballet-based activities that appeal to both girls and boys alike. The creative play in each story enhances the development of fine and gross motor skills as they balance, skip, leap, coordinate, isolate and move to the music. Pre-Ballet (ages 5-7)

Pre-Ballet classes are for children ages 5-7. The curriculum for this division was developed by Toni Bravo. This program is a prelude to formal ballet instruction and introduces children to music and movement through a structured progression that stresses creativity and group interaction.

An excellent and fun introduction to classical ballet and fine arts, the Pre-Ballet syllabus is introduced at a time when fine and gross motor skills are becoming more refined. By introducing students to the basic shapes, positions, postures and traditions of classical ballet, the Pre-Ballet curriculum enhances both cognitive and physical development at this important time.
