At The Ballet

Season Opener

To open the season, we pair two of dance's most recognized ballets, Swan Lake (Act II) and The Firebird. The second act of Swan Lake, also known as the White Act, was made famous by the intricate corps work that revolutionized classical ballet, as well as one of the most celebrated love stories of all time. Originally introduced to the world by The Ballet Russes almost one hundred years ago, The Firebird is a masterpiece of sight and sound. The musical pairing of Peter Tchaikovsky and Igor Stravinsky, two of the greatest Russian composers of all time, delights lovers of music and dance. Musical accompaniment by The Austin Symphony.

The Firebird
In 1910, the famed Ballet Russes presented The Firebird - a ballet full of magical adventures and romance. Nearly 100 years later, the 2009 World Premiere of Stephen Mills' The Firebird infuses this classic ballet with a healthy dose of feisty spirit and dramatic suspense.
