Kai, part of our 2010/11 Season Opener, is a visually stunning contemporary work choreographed in 2007 by Artistic Director Stephen Mills. It evokes a sensual celebration and a mysterious journey inspired by the blue undulating waters of the South Pacific and rhythmically exotic music by John Cage.

Ballet Austin Welcomes New Company Dancers

For the 2010/11 Season, Ballet Austin welcomes three new dancers into the Company. Two of these dancers, Brittany Strickland and Preston Andrew Patterson, are joining us from within the Ballet Austin family. Last year, Brittany and Preston danced with Ballet Austin II, our apprentice company, and have now been hired into the Company.

Our third new Company member, James Fuller, is a recent graduate of Harvard in the class of 2010. Watch the video below to learn a bit about his dance studies at Harvard and his excitement about joining Ballet Austin as we kick off our 2010/11 Season this fall.

Look for these dancers in our Season Opener performance of Carmina Burana & Kai on September 24-26, 2010 as they perform in their first show as members of the Company. Welcome James, Brittany, and Preston!
