It's never too late for adults to learn ballet. This workshop for adults is one of the most popular we offer. For those who have never had a ballet class, this workshop teaches ballet from the beginning. At the end of session you will have learned some of the fundamental positions, vocabulary, and basic principles of ballet.

Beginning Ballet 2 for is a workshop for adults who wish to continue the work of the Absolute Beginning Ballet Workshop, or have had an introduction to basic ballet. This workshop will further prepare the adult beginner for Beginning Ballet drop-in classes or the Beginning Ballet 3 Workshop offered through the BCS. The Beginning Ballet 2 workshop will add more complex combinations and center work, and will develop confidence, coordination, strength, flexibility and body awareness.

The Beginning Ballet 3 Workshop continues the work of Absolute Beginning Ballet and Beginning Ballet 2 workshops. It is also open to anyone who has had basic barre and center.

Beginning Ballet 3 will further prepare the adult beginner for Beginning Ballet drop-in classes offered through the BCS. The Beginning Ballet 3 workshop will add more complex combinations and center work, and will learn jumps. Ballet develops confidence, coordination, strength, flexibility and body awareness and is a great workout for adults.

Absolute Beginning Modern Dance for Adults

It is never too late to learn anything new, but Modern dance can be especially fun for adults.

Modern dance is an expressive and highly individualized dance form. The body is fully integrated in modern dance, often utilizing internal rhythms and movement concepts. With technique less restrictive than classical ballet, modern is the perfect jumping off point for self-expression. This workshop will teach modern technique from the very beginning, introducing modern concepts through exercises and choreography designed to promote proper alignment, strength, flexibility and coordination.

Brazilian Dance Workshop

You don't have to fly to Brazil to experience the fun of Brazilian dance!

This class will give students a fun, high-energy introduction to a variety of popular Brazilian dance styles, including different styles of samba (the national dance of Brazil), samba reggae, baile funk, axé, and maracatu. Have fun with easy-to-learn moves and combinations to get you shaking your hips. Technique and form will also be addressed. All levels welcome.

Hula (Beginning) - Hawaiian Dance

Whether you have a trip planned to the Hawaiian Islands or just want to learn something new, this is a fun workshop. If you've never taken hula before, this is for you! Experience a culture that is full of beauty and exciting adventure! Hula classes include dances in the ancient form of hula (hula kahiko) as well as the more contemporary form of hula (hula 'auana). Hawaiian history and culture are also discussed as they relate to each hula learned in class. Expect to have fun learning the stories of hula and to get a great workout in every class.

Balance, Fitness & Pilates Workshops




Better Balance & Movement Workshop
Wednesdays, June 5 - June 26 / 11:15am - 12:00pm



According to the CDC, more than one third of adults 65 and older fall each year in the United States and 20% to 30% of people who fall suffer moderate to severe injuries.

This workshop will focus on promoting and maintaining balance, coordination, and posture through a series of simple brain and muscle exercises. This workshop is excellent for people of all ages, but especially beneficial to the older adult or those dealing with the affects of neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and stroke. Research shows that if an individual continues to exercise and practice balance activities throughout life, they can avert the devastating effects of a fall and stay active and independent longer.

Bone Builders Workout
Mondays, June 3 - June 24 / 10:30am - 11:15am


Osteoporosis is a condition in which bone density deteriorates. Bone density peaks at about age 30 and then begins a slow and gradual decline as a normal part of the aging process.

The National Osteoporosis Foundation recommends two types of exercises to build and maintain bone density: weight-bearing and muscle-strengthening exercises. Sometimes we get it all wrong when it comes to exercising as we age; we begin to experience a few aches and pains, and as a result, cut back on our workouts. If we exercise at all, we only do exercises that won't hurt our joints or strain us. In actuality, we should be focusing on strengthening those weakened areas, making them stronger rather than steering clear of them.

The key is to know what exercises to do and how to do them correctly. In addition, flexibility exercises, although they do not affect bone density, may help people maintain their balance and prevent muscle injury. This workshop focuses on learning simple and safe exercises you can do at work and home on a daily basis. Get a great workout each week and also take home ideas for becoming a home bone builder.

Foam Roller Body Massage & Stretch

4 weeks of deep massage and stretch will leave you wanting more.  

Stretching on a regular basis is a complete workout in itself, and important for maintaining flexibility, balance, and relaxation. Using foam rollers provides a self myofascial release which is a type of soft tissue therapy used to reduce soreness and stiffness that limits range of motion.

This muscle balancing class will help your body relax, stretch out muscles, and release tension. You will feel the difference in your muscles.

An excellent class for all ranges of physical ability. Whether you are rehabilitating after an injury, stretching after an intensive workout, or just love how you feel after a good stretch and massage, this class is for you.

Mommy & Baby Fit Workout

Wednesdays, June 5 - June 26 / 11:00am - 11:45pm

Making exercise a priority is a challenge for new moms. This workout will allow you to take care of you while spending quality time with your baby.

Start early setting the “active life” example for your children! This unique, once a week, 45-minute low impact workout is designed for moms to get back into shape and have fun while bonding with baby.

Each workout provides unique core and strength training exercises to target the major muscle groups all while holding and lifting your little one. Body conditioning exercises combined with a fun and playful environment will captivate your child’s attention while you increase your strength and health.

Moms of all fitness levels are welcome, but must be at least 10 weeks postpartum and cleared for exercise. Ideal for moms with babies between the ages of 10 weeks and 10 months.

Taught by mom and Certified Pilates & fitness instructor Brittany Harpole.

Stretch and tone your body on the Pilates reformers in Ballet Austin's state-of-the-art Pilates Center.

Pilates Apparatus Stretch Workout combines Pilates stretches with Pilates apparatus work.

The class includes the use of Pilates props such as balls and foam rollers, and includes working out on the Pilates reformer and tower in the Pilates Studio.

Pilates Mat Workout

Working against resistance is essential to the Pilates exercises, which are designed to train the abdomen, lower back, hips and buttocks; the core. But you can accomplish this using either a mat, where your own body weight creates resistance, or a reformer, where pulleys and springs create resistance.

A Pilates mat workout is a great place to begin Pilates, or to supplement reformer workouts. By working the core muscles you improve strength and posture and develop a lean, long line. The Pilates Mat Workout offers a refreshing mind-body workout in just 45 minutes. Each class takes you through a series of exercises that are done on the floor (mat) without Pilates machines but providing the same attention to core muscles. Mat exercises are adaptable to any fitness level which makes this a challenging course for anyone. Pilates mats are provided for use during class time. Taught by Certified Pilates Instructor.

Pilates Pink Ribbon Post-Operative Workout

The Pilates Pink Ribbon Program is a post-operative exercise program for women recovering from breast cancer surgery. The Pink Ribbon Program will help stretch and strengthen the shoulder, chest, back, and abdominal muscles, allowing women to regain full range of motion to those areas affected by breast cancer surgery.

This program is suitable whether your surgery was recent or several years ago, but it is recommended that women should wait 4-6 weeks post op before enrolling in the course. The Pilates Pink Ribbon Program will offer strengthening, self-esteem and quality of life to breast cancer survivors. The program works in conjunction with your doctor's recommendations for an exercise program.

Personal instruction given by Vlada Sheber, Ballet Austin's Pilates Program Director & Certified Core Connections Pilates Instructor. Ms. Sheber is a Post-Rehabilitative Breast Cancer Exercise Specialist with the The Pilates Pink Ribbon Program.

Pilates Resistance Band Workout

Thursdays, June 6 - June 27 / 11:30am - 12:15pm

Resistance bands (Thera-bands®) are utilized to create exercises that stabilize your core and strengthen your body. Each week you will work out with Thera-bands® that offer the same three band resistance weights used on the Pilates reformer. This workout will challenge you, improve your strength, and allow you to reduce tension through stretching. Regular workouts will improve circulation, prevent injury, and advance your overall performance level. All ability levels welcome. Taught by a certified Pilates instructor.
