MUSICAL THEATRE WINTER/SPRING

PERFORMANCE WORKSHOP

BROADWAY IN MAY//100 YEARS OF BROADWAY

Directed by Danny Herman and Rocker Verastique

This year’s BROADWAY IN MAY will celebrate the past 100 years of Broadway. Learning show tunes and classic choreography from the Vaudeville era to the present will be an exciting way to experience the vast history of America’s art form – the Broadway musical! Selections from GEORGE M!, SHOW BOAT, WEST SIDE STORY, HAIRSPRAY, THE KING AND I, GYPSY, BYE BYE BIRDIE, HIGH BUTTON SHOES, CHICAGO, SWEET CHARITY, DANCIN’, HAIR, SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER, JERSEY BOYS, GREASE, THE BOYFRIEND, A CHORUS LINE, DREAMGIRLS, GUYS AND DOLLS, and IN THE HEIGHTS will be featured in this fun-filled revue.

Danny Herman is an internationally recognized director, choreographer, actor and teacher. Mr. Herman appeared in the original Broadway and Off-Broadway productions of CONTACT, and was Mike Costa on Broadway in A CHORUS LINE. More...

Rocker Verastique appeared in the original Broadway companies of CONTACT, CHICAGO, VICTOR/VICTORIA and CAROUSEL. Mr. Verastique's other Broadway credits include Miss Saigon, Phantom of the Opera and Ziegfeld Follies of 1936. More...

BEGINNING HULA

If you've never taken hula before, this is the class for you! The hula classes include dances in the ancient form of hula (hula kahiko) as well as the more contemporary form of hula (hula 'auana). Hawaiian history and culture are also discussed as they relate to each hula learned in class. All classes are conducted in a positive and respectful atmosphere that allows for individual variance in learning and mastery. Expect to be challenged and to get a great workout in every class. Hula is for fun, for fitness, and for life!

6 Week Sessions - 1x a week

If you've already taken Hula for Beginners, or just want to brush up on your hula skills, this is the class for you!  Each lesson builds upon the one that came before it. Continue to perfect your skills in the hula basics, and learn more choreography.

REVAMP BOOT CAMP
For the hardcore fitness enthusiast

Intense! Definitely not for every exerciser, and not for the wimp or faint-of-heart, this fast-paced interval training will push you to your limit.

The one-hour, twice-a-week class offers the ultimate challenge!

Designed to push you harder than you would push yourself, Revamp is also fun and interactive. A great indoor boot camp! Spend an hour doing some form of intense cardio exercise, along with strength elements (using weights, exercise bands, powerwheels, or the resistance of your own body weight).

In the heart of downtown Austin, just steps away from Lady Bird Lake Trail, Revamp Boot Camp is housed in Ballet Austin's state-of-the-art Butler Dance Education Center.

CROSS TRAINING BOOT CAMP

For the lower impact fitness enthusiast

Sometimes getting out of the bed is the hardest thing about an early morning workout. But once you commit, and begin doing it regularly, Cross Training Boot Camp will give you the workout you’ve been looking for.  If you are not a morning person, stick with it. Once you start working out early in the morning, you begin to regulate your body’s circadian rhythms, and it will become easier and easier to continue to get up early.

A strength and conditioning program that delivers results and encourages you to keep pushing yourself to a more fit you. The one-hour, once-a-week workout will challenge your body and focus on toning, flexibility, endurance, strength, coordination, and balance.  A great way to condition different muscle groups, develop a new set of skills, and vary the stress placed on specific muscles or your cardiovascular system. Many principles of Pilates are taught to provide great core strengthening. A supportive and motivational class, this Boot Camp is for everyone, regardless of experience and fitness level.  Make it part of YOUR fitness training!

FIT EXPRESS BOOT CAMP

The number one excuse most people give for not being able to get into shape: “No time to exercise!” And it’s true! You don’t have time! You wake up early, go to work or school, come home, make dinner, do laundry, and so on. You might have a few minutes to watch TV before crashing into bed, but that’s about it.

This Course Offering is the solution for you! A super-concentrated, beginning of the week, early morning workout that takes only 45 minutes.  Fit Express will give you a jumpstart to your week.

Begin with an early morning stretch, add in some cardio and strengthening exercises, and relax before heading into your daily routine. A perfect combination to keep you fit and healthy, all packed into 45 minutes!

THERABAND® STRETCH & TONE

A great morning stretch class to help tone, strengthen muscles, improve posture, and reduce stress. Thera-bands® are used in class and specific instructions are given so that you can continue your workout at home or when you travel. Thera-bands® are exercise bands which have been proven effective for flexibility workouts that will increase the core strength of the body.  Regular workouts will improve circulation in the body, prevent injury, and improve overall performance level.

Personal instruction given by Vlada Sheber, Pilates Program Director & Certified Core Connections® Pilates Instructor.

Theraband® Stretch & Tone will challenge you, improve your strength, and allow you to stretch away any tension in your week. All ability levels welcome.

WHAT IS A PILATES MAT CLASS?
Pilates Mat classes are done on the floor with a minimum of equipment. Pilates mats and there-bands are provided. The mat exercises are adaptable to any fitness level, and it is a great place to begin Pilates by focusing on learning the basics. The mat exercises will help you quickly gain strength and confidence in the Pilates method.

Pilates mat classes offer a refreshing mind-body workout, while focusing on core stability, posture, lengthening and strengthening muscles. Exercises are performed in a very slow and controlled manner with similarities to yoga as the class incorporates relaxation and breathing techniques. Pilates increases flexibility, agility, builds strength and is a safe yet challenging workout. Results will be seen in 6 weeks!
