Course Offerings -These classes are organized into sessions with a set number of participants and a guaranteed place in class. Register today in the Schools Office (512.476.9051, ext. 126).

MUSICAL THEATRE PERFORMANCE WORKSHOP

This Butler Community School course will focus on preparing for a musical theatre stage performance and will culminate in a workshop performance in Ballet Austin’s AustinVentures StudioTheatre. Material from some of Broadway’s most beloved musicals will be combined with holiday favorites to make for a fun and memorable experience.

Magic in Manhattan takes place in New York City on Christmas Eve, 2008. Separated for the holidays, a family finds a way to make the most of the season without dad. They end up experiencing an unforgettable holiday - Manhattan style! Join in on the celebration of this heart-warming holiday musical revue.

FLAMENCO
Flamenco class focuses on various elements of technique such as basic posture, braceo (arms), Maneo (hand movements), taconeo (footwork) and compas (rhythms). Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of flamenco starting with Sevillanas, a famous dance that is performed typically in Seville, and the Tango Flamenco. Discover the rich history, the fiery movements and complex rhythms that make flamenco such an incredible dance form! Taught by Elisa Rodriguez who lived and danced in Seville, Spain for seven years.

 

FLAMENCO SESSIONS
6-week sessions will allow you to have a reserved place in class and will take you through the complete process of learning a dance in more detail. Each class will build upon what is learned from the week before.

 

Sessions will be offered at Beginning/Elementary and Intermediate levels. Enrollment is limited to 25 students per session and will befilled on a first-come, first-served basis.

PILATES BOOT CAMP

What is Boot Camp?

  • The Basic Boot Camp is for people desiring a lower impact fitness program! Whether this is your first time in Boot Camp or just want a less strenuous pace, this camp is for you.

  • The Advanced Boot Camp is higher impact and faster moving!

  • More Exercise in one hour than most people do in three! See results fast!

  • Interval training INDOORS when it’s hot and humid outside! A combination of cardiovascular workouts mixed with resistance and flexibility training.

  • Work every part of your body using the basic movement principles of Pilates.

  • High energy music and positive encouragement from instructors get you doing things you never thought you could do.

  • Men’s and Women’s dressing rooms with shower areas located in the building.

  • Taught by Certified Pilates Instructors.

PILATES MAT CLASSES

Pilates Mat classes are 45 minutes in a group session. Some classes may use Pilates small accessories and props such as Thera-band
and magic circles. Pilates mats and accessories are provided.

The Pilates technique has several core concepts:

  • Concentration – You have to think about what you are doing.
  • Centering – Energy is focused on your abdominals.
  • Precision – Focus is on doing the work correctly.
  • Flow – Move through exercises with a sense of connection.
  • Breathing – Learning to breathe to support the movement.
  • Control – Stabilize to mobilize.
