Butler Dance Education Center Blog

February 5, 2007

The construction superintendent greeted me with a smile today and said that he has workers of all types speeding our Butler Dance Education Center towards completion.

Additional roof beams are going up over the AustinVentures StudioTheatre, plumbing for all bathrooms is going in, the electrical rough-in is proceeding, and a large amount of decking is happening on the mezzanine. Workers are also installing all the fire sprinkler pipes.

The warm weather has been a help! As I walked around the job site, it seemed like you could just feel the energy.

This shot shows more roof beams that are installed over the AustinVentures StudioTheatre.

Here are shots looking down from the area at the top of the stairs just above the lobby on the northeast corner of the BDEC. In the second shot here, you have a view through the Armstrong/Connelly Studio to the AustinVentures StudioTheatre.

Without getting above the site somehow, it’s tough for me to take a shot that shows the shape of the roof line. But here you can get something of an idea of what the roof beams look like—this is looking back towards the south side of the building from the mid-area where the dressing rooms will be. You can also see some of the elaborate ductwork that is installed.

Here are the 360 Condominiums -- our neighbor northwest across the street from our back corner. This building is going up at a rapid rate. And the Amli apartment building directly across San Antonio Street to the east looks like it is about ready to top out.
