Spreading the love on this Valentine’s Day!

Today, the crews are busy pouring the acoustic decking in the Austin Ventures Studio/Theatre. This process involves blowing insulation into the ceiling that will aid the sound transmission properties of the room. The white wall material you see in the photo below does the same thing.

Workers are busy all over the BDEC and you can feel the energy when you step onto the jobsite. More framework is going up all over—especially the dressing room/costume shop area behind the AustinVentures Studio/Theatre.

I took this shot from the Academy Studio area looking back up towards the roofline over the AustinVentures StudioTheatre. The roofline is taking shape, bigtime.

Workers are preparing to put the insulation in the ceiling of the AustinVentures StudioTheatre. When it’s open, this 287-seat theatre will be available for a wide variety of performances. recitals, and seminars.

This shot was taken from just above what will be the main Academy Studio. The silver metal you see here defines what will eventually be an upstairs hallway overlooking the studios.

To take this photo, I stayed in the same spot, but turned about 45 degrees to the right. Here, you see the Armstrong/Connelly Studio which will be where the Ballet Austin II company rehearses. There will be glass along this upper area, allowing younger dancers a chance to see the apprentices at work. Also, the open space you see on the right side of this shot between the vertical beam and the white wall will be the main northside entrance for BA Academy parents.

OK, let’s use our imaginations. This shot was taken from a point just at the top of the main curving lobby stairwell. The room to the foreground here, on the camera side of the beams, will be the new BA Board Room. As I understand it, we will make this very useful room available to community groups that need a place to meet. On the other side of the beams will be the Pilates studio.
