Giant steps in framing and pouring.

First, a big hello to Steve and all the crews at the Butler Dance Education Center! Glad you’re tuning in to the BDEC Blog! We’ll keep the entries coming!

This week, huge amounts of pouring and framing have occurred. Even from the exterior, the building looks different.

The canopy over the AustinVentures StudioTheatre will be installed posthaste. And sheetrock is strategically stacked all over the building, awaiting a start of installation on Monday. Also, air conditioning ducts are being readied for placement.

Let’s take a look!

Here’s a shot of the northside, from across the street by the State Parking Garage. You can see what will be the main entrance to the Academy, just to the left of the white surface, in the middle of the shot.

Take a long look at this one. This is the last time you’ll see open air over the roof area of the AustinVentures StudioTheatre. The canopy may be going up this afternoon, early next week at the latest.

Here’s a shot looking down into one of the Academy Studios. That rectangular unit on the floor is an air conditioning duct ready for installation.

Remember that shot from last week of what will be the board room and the Pilates studio behind it? How it was a big empty space with nothing but the X-Beam in the middle? Well, about a week later, here’s the picture. We’re at the top of the stairwell from the lobby again and here’s the view! The framing is in and the sheetrock is stacked up and ready to go.

Here’s the progress in the AustinVentures StudioTheatre. The worker on the cherry picker is spraying in the acoustical ceiling. You can see the massive air conditioning ducts in the foreground, ready to be installed. I can’t wait to see what this looks like a week from now!

Another stack of sheetrock, ready to go. Major progress on this front will be made next week. When the sheetrock is up, the BDEC will feel an order of magnitude closer to completion.

And here is our neighbor, the 360 Condominiums, northwest across from our back corner. They are making some serious progress as well!
