Butler Dance Education Center Blog
September 1, 2006

This is the first entry in the Butler Dance Education Center Blog (Or “BDEC” as we say.)
Every week, I will shoot some photos and give you an update from project management about what’s what with Ballet Austin’s new home.
Right now, we’ve blown the roof off! If you drive by the back side of the BDEC, you will see that the roof has been removed. The reaso for taking the roof off is so that the workers can bring in a very large pier drilling rig.
In this demolition phase, Harvey-Cleary is getting ready to sink 28-foot shafts below the slab level. When the holes are excavated, then they will come back and case them in and pour concrete. Piers with that kind of depth are needed to support our new mezzanine.
Management also told me that as soon as they can, they will start layout for new walls on the existing structure.
We are on our way!
