As of Friday at 3:00, construction management says that the crews have drilled for and poured sixteen piers. They are doing more concrete removal as well.
In addition, crews are performing excavation for plumbing. That is what you’ll see if you drive by the front parking lot.
Third Street is down to one lane in both directions, with covered safety sidewalks on both sides.
Just for those of you who don’t get downtown often, I’ve included a shot of the Amli Building across the street, which is looking very substantial.
And two blocks to our east, a 1000-square foot bodega called Royal Blue Grocery has opened. Here is a shot of the owner George with his selection of baguettes, olive oil and balsamic vinegar. He also has a nice array of wines, heat-and-eats and fresh vegetables—even a newsstand with the New Yorker and Atlantic Monthly -- all the things an urban dweller could desire. George says that he has blown through his sales projections already. The Arts District is happening!
