Butler Dance Education Center Blog

Work continues in earnest on the Butler Dance Education Center this week. Bar joists and decking are the order of the day.

The lobby is being graced by a flurry of digging. Machines and hand labor are being employed to excavate a substantial trench so that the main sewer line can be laid. Crews were surprised to find that they had to dig through 30 inches of concrete – which was not anticipated. That’s one solid building we bought!

In the back of the building, as you wander around, you get a feel for how things will look when the second floor is installed.

Here is what the lobby looks like at this point.

The rebar you can see here, sticking out of the side of the Austin Ventures Theatre, just above this workman’s head, is an indicator of where the second floor will be.
