The Carnival of the Animals

Since 2000, Build-a-Ballet has introduced thousands of elementary-aged students to the process of creating a work of art. Dancers from Ballet Austin’s exclusive Trainee program perform nine excerpts from The Carnival of the Animals with choreography by Ballet Austin's Artistic Director, Stephen Mills, and original music by Camille Saint Saëns.

Students participate in choreographing a movement phrase that is eventually incorporated into the ballet. We also discuss elements of choreography, including use of space, rhythm, timing, and partnering. This 50-minute program is presented at Ballet Austin or in schools.

While shows taking place at Ballet Austin have already taken place for the 2012/13 school year, you may request a show for your school campus through mid-May 2013.
