And the WINNER IS...

Ballet Austin announces Jeanie Tuttle– librarian at Clayton Elementary – as Austin's Community Mother Ginger. Receiving 3,300 of the more than 13,000 votes, Tuttle will star in the role of Mother Ginger during Ballet Austin's Dec 7 performance of The Nutcracker.


The nominee with the most votes November 25 wins the following:

  • Starring role as Mother Ginger for the Dec 7, 7:30pm performance of The Nutcracker. (No dancing, acting or speaking skills required.)
  • VIP treatment with their own 'celebrity' dressing room for your performance
  • Box seats for friends and family to witness their debut on the stage of The Long Center (8 seats)
  • Discounts for all of their friends and family to see the Dec 7 performance
  • Gift basket of Ballet Austin products
  • Photo and video of your performance

In addition:

  • The person who nominated the winner will receive an additional pair of tickets to the Dec 7 show to witness their favorite community leader don the dress.


  • Nominees must be available and willing to appear on stage at The Long Center for the December 7, 7:30pm performance of The Nutcracker.
  • Nominees will be contacted before the voting page goes live to ensure that they are both available and willing to be part of the contest.
  • The Mother Ginger role is a non-speaking, non-gender specific role that involves the ability to stand on a 4ft tall platform and wear a head dress and make up for a 3 minute "performance". No dancing, acting or speaking skills required.
