Hold on to your seats!

Hold on to your Seats! As soon as I saw the line-up for next season, I knew it was going to be a great year. From my perspective as Director of Finance, that also means revenue (well, it is my job), but for most everyone else, it means fantastic music, beautiful dancing, romance, and a wonderful blend of the classical with the innovative. Beginning with Carmina Burana (got to love those crazy monks) we will once again venture into collaboration with one of the nation’s premier vocal groups, Conspirare. The blend of vocal solos and ensemble with Stephen Mills' elaborate and athletic choreography was a huge success when it premiered in 2005 and I’ve been waiting not so patiently to see it again.

And, it’s definitely brilliant to add in La Sylphide, giving central Texas audiences a chance to enrich their cultural repertoire by seeing this most famous of romantic era ballets (you just don’t see men in kilts and flying sylphs around much these days – even in Austin!). Ending with a brand new sparkling, creative, and fresh Magic Flute (and who doesn’t adore Mozart?) is just plain incredible – rumor has it that it’s abundant with colorful and whimsical accoutrement for a total sensory delight. Combine it all with the creation of new work in our own AustinVentures StudioTheater and the ever popular Nutcracker, and you get a season that truly has something for everyone – in fact, it has everything for everyone. I can’t wait…you won’t want to either.
