Ballet Austin Gives Back
By Barbara Shack, Executive Administrator

Again this year Ballet Austin is thrilled to be able to assist non-profit organizations with their fund-raising.  Frequently tickets to Ballet Austin performances and class cards to the Butler Community School are the most hotly contested items in silent auctions.

The Donation Request Team, Sandra Krempasky, Vicki Parsons, Pei-San Brown and I, review all requests coming to Ballet Austin.

Last year we contributed 174 tickets and 113 class cards to 117 non-profit organizations. This year we have already offered tickets, class cards and special sessions like Pilates for Golfers to 55 organizations.  Class cards can be used for any of the classes at the Butler Community School including Pilates mat, beginning ballet for adults, hula,  ballet fit, Broadway fit, yoga and hip hop.  The School and Academy have contributed summer camp and special workshop sessions.

At the same time we are thrilled to bring information about Ballet Austin and the Butler Community School to a wider audience.  The estimate is that 20,000 people have been introduced or re-introduced to us at silent auctions last season alone. A few of this year’s benefiting non-profit organizations are Zach Theater, University Methodist Early Childhood Center, Mexic-Arte Museum, Mobile Loaves and Fishes, Project Transitions, Junior League of Austin and Trouble Puppet Theater Company.
