Announcing Our 2009/10 Season

It is my pleasure to announce our exciting 2009/10 Season. To open the season, I have paired two of dance's most recognized ballets into one great evening, Swan Lake, Act II (Tchaikovsky) and The Firebird (Stravinsky). Originally introduced to American audiences by The Ballet Russes one hundred years ago, the musical pairing of Tchaikovsky and Stravinsky, two of the greatest Russian composers of all time, delights lovers of music and dance.
In December, Tchaikovsky takes us to the land of the Sugar Plum Fairy as we present Austin's holiday tradition, The Nutcracker. With the world's most recognizable music, Ballet Austin's 47th annual production of The Nutcracker continues to bring families together in celebration of Texas' longest running production.
In music school I learned "the three B's": Bach, Beethoven and Brahms. For Valentine's Day weekend, I present a new evening-length work with the working title The Bach Project. Utilizing a broad range of the master's music, this world-premiere dance piece includes a variety of movement styles and interactive media. Read more...
