Silicon Labs Honored for Philanthropy
By Natalie Stalmach, Development Coordinator

Ballet Austin is honored to announce that our partner, Silicon Laboratories, was recently named the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) 2009 Outstanding Philanthropic Corporation. We are grateful to Silicon Labs for their support of Ballet Austin as a Season Sponsor and a sponsor of The Nutcracker. Silicon Labs’ gifts support Ballet Austin’s artistic programming as well as education and community programs such as Leaps and No Bounds, The Nutcracker School Shows, and Night of Community. Silicon Labs is also a generous neighbor in the downtown community and Ballet Austin.

Silicon Labs has been an Austin leader in philanthropy and community involvement for more than ten years and prides itself on innovation – from its products, to its employees to its philanthropic approach to supporting the community. In addition to Ballet Austin, Silicon Labs also supports many other Central Texas nonprofits including the Austin Children’s Museum, Habitat for Humanity, Junior Achievement, Girlstart, and Capital Area Food Bank.

Silicon Labs’ internal Philanthropy and Community Service Team is focused on identifying programs that inspire employees and driving support within the organization to participate in events. For example, in 2007 the company contributed to 26 different organizations and volunteered for activities supporting Meals on Wheels, Habitat for Humanity, Coats for Kids, Center for Child Protection, March of Dimes Walk, KLRU, the Ronald McDonald House, blood drives and many other community services.

Ballet Austin is honored to partner with such a wonderful organization and congratulates Silicon Labs on receiving this prestigious award.
