Cult of Color: Call to Color featured in Art in America By Lance Johnson
Cult of Color: Call to Color was a ground breaking, world-premiere work debuted in the AustinVentures StudioTheater in March of this year. For those of you that weren’t fortunate enough to have made it to this production, the collaboration between visual artist Trenton Doyle Hancock, composer Graham Reynolds and our own Stephen Mills was probably one of the best works of art (dance or otherwise) to which I have been witness.
After selling out our 2-week run and greeting guests from as far away as Europe, the reviews came pouring in. What followed was an overwhelming outpouring of positive reaction on a level. Musings such as:
"100 years ago (Mills) would have been collaborating with Tchaikovsky but here we are with Graham Reynolds who has his finger in all those different pies... "
