Fête 08 is Just Around the Corner! By Sharon Lyle, Special Events Coordinator
On Thursday, October 23rd, Ballet Austin will present its Season Opening Fête at The Long Center for the Performing Arts. This year’s theme, Fly Me To The Moon, was inspired by the piece that gala attendees will preview that evening– Twyla Tharp’s Nine Sinatra Songs. Over the past six months, I have had the pleasure of working with Fête 08 chairs Maria & Eric Groten and their committe as they have worked tirelessly to plan the much-anticipated, fun-filled evening.
Guests will arrive at The Long Center for cocktails, appetizers and music by Frank Sinatra style crooner Kevin Ahart. Following the reception, we will proceed into the dinner tent for a Sinatra-inspired gourmet meal by Kurant Events.
As dinner concludes, ticket holders for our first-ever “Behind the Curtain” party will arrive at The Long Center to join the party already in progress in Dell Hall as everyone is treated to a Gala performance by Ballet Austin. The evening wraps up with our legendary after party back on the City Terrace of The Long Center.
We are grateful for the generous sponsors who have made this year’s Fête possible: The Austonian, David Yurman Austin and Durbin Bennett Peterson Private Wealth Management.
This premier fundraiser has been voted “Austin’s Best Black Tie” for several years running. We have many surprises in store for this year’s attendees and our auction committee has a treasure trove of tempting and prizes and raffle items.
Only a few spaces remain for the dinner portion of the event and Behind the Curtain tickets are limited as well. See you at Fête 08!
