So what did she think about Texas? “The heat! It’s a killer!” It seems that on a hot summer day in Ann Arbor, the temperature can soar to the high seventies. Yeah. So there. “That is the one thing I’ve had a hard time adjusting to,” she says.
But she loves everything about Ballet Austin. “Some of my favorite pieces have been ‘Serenade’ and ‘Taming of the Shrew.’ But I think that the perfect part for me was Little Red Riding Hood in ‘Sleeping Beauty.’ Most people would look at that part and wish they didn’t have to do it, but for me it was low stress and great fun!”
Of course, another good thing about Austin for Rebecca was finding the love of her life—she met her husband Bryant in her Mormon Church and they got married in 2006.
So what’s in store for her down the road? First, she wants to have several children—but she also hopes to go to medical school someday. “And I love musical theatre, too. It would be a lot of fun to do parts in some great plays.”
But right now, she’s happy being part of Ballet Austin and she’s looking forward to next season. (While staying out of the heat.)
