A Big Weekend for the Season Opener
This year Artistic Director Stephen Mills opens our 2009/10 season with one of the most recognized classical ballets of all time, Swan Lake, Act II and his world premiere of The Firebird on the centennial anniversary of the Stravinsky score.
Over the last few weeks sitting in the studio and watching the restaging process for Swan Lake and the choreographic creation of The Firebird I can assure you that the music and the movement of these two works are unforgettable. Throughout this rehearsal process you can feel the energy in the building that accompanies the start of the season. Ashley Lynn (as Odette in Swan Lake) and Aara Krumpe (as the Firebird) literally become the gorgeous birds they each portray. Stephen, Michelle and new Rehearsal Assistant Allisyn Paino are now in final preparations to move the work into The Long Center next week. Peter Bay and the symphony are in rehearsal to play these two beautiful scores.
We look forward to seeing you next weekend!

The Long Center
For those of you who already have tickets, here is some information that will assist you:
Dedicated Parking: The parking structure at The Long Center will be reserved for Ballet Austin patrons for each performance of The Season Opener. At the entrance of the garage you will show your ticket, email confirmation of tickets purchase, etc., to verify that you are our patron.
The Best Path to The Long Center: If you traditionally come to The Long Center via I-35 or from any location east of the property, your expected route should be unchanged. If you traditionally access The Long Center by way of the MoPac, the direct path throughout the weekend will be via Cesar Chavez, as Barton Springs Rd and exit will be closed from the MoPac, preventing east-bound traffic. I suggest adding an additional 15-20 minutes to give you plenty of time and to make this a great experience.
